D. Joan Haase, 86, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 9:42 pm, Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born August 18, 1932 in rural Monmouth, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy E. (Larimer) Ray. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School.
Joan married Marvin G. Haase in Monmouth on April 19, 1950 and he passed away on August 31, 2013.
Joan worked for the Monmouth School District #38 for many years as a secretary at Monmouth High School and later in the food service department until her retirement.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons; Gregory Haase of Missouri, Jeff (Jeannie) Haase of Monmouth, IL and Brad Haase of Galesburg, Il; her grandchildren; Anna (Alan) Haase of Monmouth, IL, Mindy Townsley of Davenport, IA, Justin Haase of Davenport, IA, Nicole (Tim) Hammond of Oak Park, CA., Scott Haase of Monmouth, IL and Lara (Curt) Steffensmeier of Ft. Madison, IA. Also surviving are her great grandchildren; Braxton, Reese, Aurora, Athena, Larissa, Rowan, Syndey and Khloe; her brother in laws; Ivan (Paige) Haase of Florida, Irvin (Carol) Haase of Monmouth, IL, sister in laws, Florence McBroom of Chenoa, IL, Marilyn Haase of Burlington, IA, and Annette Ray of Grand Forks, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marilyn Algren, Betty Rogers and her brother, Paul Ray.
Cremation has been accorded with a private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park to be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois or the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
