DJ Washburn

Dennis J. “DJ” Washburn, Jr., 40, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 12:45 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2022 at Marigold Rehabilitation & Health Care, Galesburg, IL.

He was born on May 22, 1981 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Dennis J. and Diana (Inman) Washburn.  DJ was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1999.

After High School DJ moved to Colorado with his best friend, Brandon, where he developed a love for cooking.  He worked as a cook at Petey’s in Monmouth for several years.  He also worked at Circle K in Monmouth and most recently he worked at O’ Reilly Auto Parts in Monmouth.  DJ loved to play volleyball and Tennis with his dad.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his niece and nephew.

Surviving DJ is his parents, Dennis & Diana Washburn of Monmouth, IL; his sister, Nicole (Joey) Hull of Monmouth, IL; one niece, Emery Hull of Monmouth; one nephew, Kayden Hull of Monmouth, IL; maternal grandfather, Don Inman of Monmouth.  Also surviving is his special friend, Megan Jenks of Monmouth, IL; his “Brothers”, Brandon Gummerson and Ryan “Peach” Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James & Dorothy Washburn and maternal grandmother, Teenie Inman.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  No visitation or funeral services are planned at this time.  Memorials can be made to Western Illinois Animal Rescue in DJ’s name.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
