Daniel G. Kistler, 82, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:44 pm, Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home.
Dan was born March 21, 1939 in Monmouth, IL the son of Glen D. and Irene (Rausch) Kistler. He was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School in 1957. He later attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1962.
Dan served with the Illinois Army National Guard from 1962-1968.
Dan married Jean Ann Cowan in Monmouth, Il on June 22, 1963 and she survives.
Dan was President and later owned and operated Kistler & Co. and Monmouth Stone Company following the passing of his father working for the companies for over 50 years.
He was an active member of the Monmouth Rotary Club and the Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. He also was a member of the former Monmouth Exchange Club and served on several different boards within Warren Achievement, Monmouth Trust and Savings Bank and served as President of the Mellinger Foundation. He enjoyed traveling, investing and studying the stock market and being his daughter’s biggest sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann Kistler of Monmouth, IL; his son Scott Daniel Kistler of Monmouth and his daughter Kristina Kistler of Rock Island, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bradley Kistler; his sister, Carolyn Boggs.
A Gathering of Family and Friends and reception will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, October 29, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, Cremation has been accorded. A private family interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth at a later date. Memorials may be given to Warren Achievement Center, Monmouth, IL.
