Carson K. "Pete" Peters

Carson K. "Pete" Peters, 75, of Oquawka, Ill., passed away at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home.

He was born May 10, 1939 in Shelbina, MO. the son of Russell and Nell (McKinney) Peters. He was raised and educated Monroe City. MO.

Pete served with the United States Army from May 1958 to May 1978 before retiring as a Master Sargeant. He served in Vietnam where he received several commendations including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Pete married Helen J. Preithner in Worcester, MA on Feb. 10, 1961 and she survives.

Following his retirement from military services Pete later worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Lock and Dam 17 & 18 as a Shift Head for over 17 years.

He enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Angela (John Wildrick) Dunn of Montrose; sons, David (Brenda) Peters of Oquawka and Michael (Jodi) Peters of Middletown, RI; grandchildren, Candy (Mike) Robertson, Nicolette (Robert) Critser, Sara (Mike) Davis, Samantha Joe Peters and Riley Peters; great grandchildren, Candy's children; KC, James and Lauryn, Nikki's children, Aurora and Regina, Sara's children, Victor and Helene; numerous nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents along with brothers and sisters.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the House of Prayer in Oquawka with Pastor Betty Moede officiating. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
