Calvin T. Cokel, 25, of Burlington, IA, formerly of Monmouth, IL died at 7:48 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015, near Mediapolis, IA. He was born March 14, 1990 in Galesburg, IL the son of Tony and Marcy (Todd) Cokel. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 2008. Calvin married Carissa Cole in Galesburg, IL on June 7, 2014 and she survives. Calvin worked at MCR/Cornelius in Monmouth for 2 years. For the last 3 A½ years he worked for Case in Burlington. He was a huge sports fan and loved following the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox and the Bulls. He was an avid Batman fan and fisherman. He enjoyed playing golf, music and attending numerous concerts. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Carissa of Burlington, IA; parents, Tony & Marcy Cokel; brothers, Colton Cokel and Caine Cokel; special little brother, Maveryk Lee; his grandfathers, Martin Todd and Julius Cokel; and special niece, Jersey Cokel all of Monmouth; mother in law, Jennifer Cole and sister in law, Caitlin Cole both of Galesburg; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his kitten, Maisy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sharon Chambers, Linda Todd and Bill and Patricia Logue. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October30, 2015 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A private family interment will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
