Bruce W. Skees

Bruce W. Skees, 69, of Monmouth, passed away at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his home.

He was born on January 1, 1949 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Bruce W. and Verla M. (Sharp) Skees.  Bruce was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Bruce married Laurie L. Fure on June 23, 2012 in Coon Rapids, MN, she survives.

Bruce worked in maintenance in a group home for 20 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cars, and working on home improvement projects.

Surviving Bruce is his wife, Laurie Skees of Monmouth, IL; three sons, Nick (Sara) Skees of Minnesota, Nolan Skees of Minnesota, Neal (Jessica) Skees of Texas; one daughter, Krista Lenover of Monmouth, IL; stepdaughter, Samantha (Bryan) Krage of Minnesota; six sisters, Joan (Gary) Cochran of Oquawka, IL, Diane Narmi of California, Sharon (Dean) Hennenfent of Alexis, IL, Patricia Robertson of Monmouth, IL, Jackie Icenogle of Alexis, IL, and Leila (Jim) Sloan of Monmouth, IL.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald “Pete” Skees; one daughter, Tracy Williams, and his grandparents.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 2:00-4:00 pm, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth followed by Military Honors Services beginning at 4:00 pm.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Bruce Skees Memorial fund.
