Brian "Kirk" Utsinger

Brian “Kirk” Utsinger, 57, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:43 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2020 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

He was born on January 25, 1963 at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in North Chicago, IL, the son of Vernon and Bonnie (Ryan) Utsinger.  Kirk graduated from Galesburg High School in 1981.

Kirk married Trish Young on January 9, 1999 at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Monmouth, IL; she survives. He has been and always will be the love of her life.

Kirk worked as a branch manager at Praxair in West Burlington, IA.  He also worked at Protexall and In-Home Medical in Galesburg for several years.  He also did lawn care for many people.  Kirk was an avid softball player. He played summer and fall seasons for almost 40 years. Some years he played over 300 games. He enjoyed helping family and friends with handyman projects.  Kirk was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.  Most of all, Kirk enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were his whole world.

Surviving Kirk is his wife, Trish Utsinger of Monmouth, IL; five children, Jennifer (Francis) Gunsallus of Keithsburg, IL, John (Ashley Richards) Grant of Wilmore KY, Holly Utsinger of Brinkhaven, OH, Katie (Jason) Hasten of Monmouth, IL, Bryan Utsinger of Monmouth, IL; twelve grandchildren, Ben, Isabel, Patrick, Sophia, Adriana, Matthew, William, Nathanial, Jonathan, Lucas, Levi, Willow; his father, Vernon (Gladys) Utsinger of Garland, TX; his mother, Bonnie Lockhart of Monmouth, IL; one sister, Brenda Marsh of Grand Prairie, TX; one niece, Alex Marsh, and one nephew, Noah Marsh. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Orval & Helen Ryan and Francis & Dorothy Utsinger.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Funeral Home.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions all social distancing practices will be observed during the visitation and funeral service.  Memorials can be made to the Kirk Utsinger Memorial Fund.
