Brian Reese Chezem, 68, departed this life too soon at 12:08 am on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the Monmouth Nursing Home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born March 5, 1954, in Monmouth, IL to Loyd E. and Edith (Baker) Chezem of Monmouth. Brian grew up in Monmouth, at the age of 15 moved to Pocahontas, AR with his parents and went to school in Pocahontas.
In 1977 he married Rebecca Cecil and they had a daughter Mindy Leigh Chezem.
Later in life he drove trucks for Superior Trucking, Loyd Forrester and Don McQuirt of Pocahontas, AR and later moved back to Monmouth, where he drove a truck for Munson Transportation who was later bought out by Heartland Express. He then became a diesel mechanic for Munson Trucking and then Nickels Diesel Service.
He was a big fan of classic cars. He owned a 67’ Chevelle, that can be seen at the annual Maple City Car Show. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the river and hanging out downtown.
He is survived by one daughter Mindy Chezem of Black Rock, AR: three sisters Sandra Dean, Ann Miller both of Monmouth, IL and Connie Prewitt of Maumelle, AR. Three nieces Debbie Newby, Julie Brodrick, and Amy Godina along with five nephews Steve Crabill, Tommy Dean, Mark Todd, Justin Prewitt, and Tony Miller and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of life will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023, at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A private family interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
