Bonnie Jean (Deal) Carlson, 83, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:30 pm, Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL.
She was born December 5, 1934 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Cecil W. and Emma H. (Schneider) Deal. She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1953.
Bonnie married Gerald D. “Swede” Carlson on August 1, 1954 in Galesburg, IL at the First Christian Church and he passed away on June 4, 1999.
Bonnie was a homemaker and caregiver. She also worked at McLellan’s Five and Dime Store in Galesburg, the Warren School cafeteria, the First Christian Church doing housekeeping and Carlson Service on West Broadway in Monmouth.
She attended the First Christian Church of Monmouth. She also hosted the TOPS Club at her home in Monmouth along with several neighborhood coffee clubs. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and her pets, especially Daisy.
Survivors include her children, Jeffrey D. “Swede” Carlson and Christine Carlson both of Monmouth; granddaughters, Nikki (Alex) Hardin of Monmouth, Ashley (Richard) Gardner of Wentzville, MO; grandsons, Zane D. Carlson of Oxford, OH and J.D. Carlson of Monmouth; great grandsons, Eli Hardin and Liam Gardner; brother-in-law, Don Carlson of Galesburg, sister-in-law, Velma Carlson of Alexis; cousin, Marilyn (Deal) Howe of Bloomington, IL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Alan Deal and Robert Deal, brother-in-law, Leroy Carlson, sister-in-law, Martha Deal and special sister-in-law and the other “Bonnie”, Bonnie Jean Carlson.
Graveside services will be 10:30 am Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue in honor of her companion, Daisy.
