Betty L. Lee

Betty L. Lee, 76, of Monmouth, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016, at her home.

She was the born on June 30, 1939 in Alexis, IL, the daughter of Harold D. and Alice L. (Sharp) Hasting. Betty was raised and educated in Alexis.

Betty married William E. Lee on February 14, 1975 in Monmouth, he survives.

Betty worked as the kitchen supervisor at Warren School for 25 years; she loved to make the children food they enjoyed. Betty loved to bake, travel with her husband, and most of all, she loved to spend time with her friends and family.

Survivors include her husband Bill Lee of Monmouth, three daughters; Debbie (Mike) Hawk, Kathy (Dennis) Yates, Sherri Rountree all of Monmouth, two sons; Rick (Loretta) Rountree , Mike (Cathy) Rountree both of Burlington, IA, and two step sons; Junior Lee of Wisconsin, and Jimmy Lee of Bushnell, IL. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one step daughter, and one great granddaughter.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Alexis Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
