Benjamin M. Corben

Benjamin M. Corben, 33, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 7:07 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2016 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born on March 25, 1983 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Steven Reid and Ange Laura (Zielke) Corben. He was raised and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 2001. Ben graduated from Western Illinois University in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management. He later graduated in 2010 from Electrician Journeyman School.

Ben married Annie Nichole Garrett on October 25, 2014 in New Windsor, IL, she survives.

Ben worked as an electrician for Mangieri Electric in Galesburg for the last 10 years. He also worked for Trulson Construction and Trent McKeown Construction. Ben grew up in the Norwood Presbyterian Church, he was president of the Alexis/North Henderson Young Men's Club, and served on the Alexis Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to fish and hunt and be outdoors, fish frys and volleyball. Most of all, Ben wanted to spend every minute he could with his family and friends.

Ben is survived by his wife, Annie Corben of Alexis; one son, Wyatt Reid Corben of Alexis; parents Steve and Ange Corben of Alexis; one brother, Alex Corben of Alexis; one nephew, Oscar Corben; two nieces, Emma Garrett and Allison Corben-due in September; and his faithful companion Mack. Also surviving are his in-laws Julie & David Garrett of Elgin, IL; paternal grandmother, Patricia Corben of Alexis; paternal great grandfather, Howard "Bus" Moore of Alexis; brother-in-law, Cliff (Breanna) Garrett of Schaumburg, IL; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jay Corben, maternal grandparents Betty Blair and Marion Zielke, Uncle Bruce Corben, and paternal great grandmother Martha Moore.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Alexis Fieldhouse, Alexis. Interment will be in Alexis Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Alexis Fieldhouse from 3:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Wyatt Corben Life Fund.
