Barbara M. Leezer, 82, of Monmouth died at 8:25 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2016 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was born August 19, 1933 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Victor and Irene Mildred (Murphy) Cokel. She was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Immaculate Conception School.

Barb married Max Leezer on April 15, 1950 at the Rectory at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth, the Altar and Rosary Society and a local book club.

Barb was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family. She was an excellent cook and worked in the ICS kitchen for many years. She also volunteered at the Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth.

Survivors include her husband; 8 daughters, Theresa Hasten of Galesburg, Cynthia (Dave) Botruff of Colorado, Cecelia (Dan ) Callahan of St. Louis, MO, Julia Katherine Ballard of Wisconsin, Laura Elaine (Bernie) Dean of Monmouth, Marcia Joann Morath of Monmouth, Sara Irene Leezer of Monmouth and Marissa Lee Leezer of Chicago, IL; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; her sister, Alice (Will) Clark of Monmouth; brother, Jerry (Bonita) Cokel of Media, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, David John Leezer; 1 brother, Robert Cokel.

Cremation has been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A private family graveside committal service at St. Mary's Cemetery, Monmouth will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later.
