Alice Long, 78, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 6:45 am, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Heartland Healthcare Center, Galesburg.
She was born April 5, 1940 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Lomoin and Grace (Brake) Killip. Alice was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1958.
Alice married D. Lynn Long in 1963 in Monmouth.
Alice worked at Stockland FS as an accounts payable clerk and collections manager for 20 years. She then moved to Ft. Collins, CO and lived there for 25 years, working at Ideal Cement which later became Holcim Cement as a procurement specialist before retiring back to Monmouth in 2005.
Surviving Alice is her son, Jeff (Julie) Long of Plymouth, MN; three granddaughters, Megan Long, Laura Long, and Jennifer Long all of Plymouth, MN. Also surviving is her sister, Ruth Smith of Kirkwood, IL; sister-in-law, Nell Marie Killip of Minot, ND; niece, Sara Killip of Minot, ND; three nephews, Brad Killip of Galesburg, Andrew and David Smith both of Kirkwood, IL; one great niece, two great nephews, and dear friend, Chris Sprout of Monmouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Killip; and brother-in-law, Steve Smith.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, at a later date. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
